“I Believe In Myself...”

Scottsdale, AZ – If you want to be a model, or an actor, or any part of the entertainment industry, you have to believe in yourself. The belief that you can surmount all obstacles. The entertainment industry can be full of great rewards but often, to achieve those rewards one must endure great hardships. You have to have a thick skin.

Let’s accept the fact that the concept of “an overnight sensation” is rare. There no longer is a studio system or great impresarios such as De Mille that discover a star at the counter of a drugstore soda fountain. Competition is tough. You may be able to walk and chew gum at the same time, ride a horse fall 50 feet onto an airbag, dance like Michael Jackson, or have a face like Angelina Jole. You may be all these things and more but without a sense of self-worth and confidence, it’s all for nothing.

Believing in yourself is not only important, it’s essential. Believing in yourself is not just about “I am so wonderful I could hardly be better”. It’s about self-respect. That begins with taking care of yourself both physically and mentally. Keep yourself healthy. Develop healthy habits. Exercise, get plenty of rest and follow the adage that “my body is a temple, I shall worship it”.

Being an actor or model is a strenuous business. One must endure long hours, low pay, and numerous opinions both qualified and not so qualified regarding your talent and capabilities. You have to have a selective sense of hearing. Weed out the valid commentary and forget the rest.
